My vision for Nevada (whether it be about education, climate change/renewable energy, public safety, or working families) is endorsed by a wide range of groups which include labor unions, environmental organizations, veterans associations, business interests, public safety workers, and women's organizations.
Success in the Classroom
Parents want what’s best for their kids - including great teachers and high quality classrooms - not wasting valuable time on high stakes testing that has little to do with preparing their kids for the future. I understand that family involvement in education helps children succeed in the classroom.
If our kids are going to compete for the jobs of the future, they need a world-class education - from preschool all the way through college. I was proud to support increasing the mining tax in the 2021 legislature and earmarking it for education. By guaranteeing our students a high-quality education, we can ensure that Nevada will prosper for generations to come.
I will:
Augmenting our Clean Energy Economy
Nevada was becoming a leader in clean energy jobs until the Republican led legislature in 2015 gave un-elected bureaucrats the authority to kill our solar industry — costing thousands of jobs right here in Southern Nevada. Thankfully, I was able to work with my colleagues to revive this vital industry and bring thousands of jobs back to Nevada.
Nevada must continue to be on the front lines of fostering a new decade of research that spurs innovation, industry, and good-paying jobs that can’t be outsourced overseas.
I will:
Protecting Those who Protect us
I have seen firsthand the need for more resources and better tools for our police officers and first responders. The men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe deserve advocates who ensure they have the resources they need to effectively do their job and also care for themselves when not on the job. In particular, I have worked to ensure that police officers have more tools to deal with the mentally ill, leading to better outcomes.
I proudly supported and continue to support commonsense background checks to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists, violent felons, and domestic abusers while still respecting the rights of Nevada's many law-abiding gun owners.
I will:
Supporting Working Families
I believe hard work should be rewarded and that no one who works more than 40 hours a week should struggle to put food on the table or meet their family's basic needs.
I have fought for and will continue to fight for equal pay for equal work, increasing the minimum wage, and championing policies to support paid family leave for working families.
I have a simple approach for our state and local contracts: give Nevada businesses the first crack. It’s a commonsense idea that our tax dollars should be put to work to create jobs for Nevada families — not out-of-state corporations who are more likely to outsource jobs to China or India.
I know that affordable child care doesn’t just help parents – it also helps our economy. With so many working families struggling just to keep up these days, making quality child care more available for everyone will strengthen our families and give parents peace of mind as they head to work.
Supporting family values starts with letting parents have the flexibility to take paid time off to care for family members who get sick. I know that when Nevadans aren’t forced to choose between their job and the health of their family, we can create a more stable and productive workforce.
I will:

I will:
- Continue to advocate for public education funding that gets Nevada to at least the national average when it comes to per pupil funding.
- Continue to ensure that teachers and education support professionals receive well-deserved pay raises.
- Ensure that CCSD and the Board of Trustees are held accountable when it comes to K-12 education.

I will:
- Continue to act as a check on our regulators to ensure that our clean energy economy flourishes.
- Support making bold investments in making Nevada the world’s leader in research, development, and use of clean and renewable energy.

I will:
- Push for increased neighborhood policing efforts and work to strengthen the relationship between our communities and the law enforcement officers who serve us.
- Advocate for resources that make it easier for law enforcement to deal with persons in a mental health crisis.

- Continue to advocate for a living wage.
- Work to increase access to affordable quality childcare.
- Continue to support paid sick leave policies that allow Nevada workers to prioritize their own health and the health of family members.
